Bootlid Lock screwdrivered!

Hi,

Some lowlife decided to get into my boot with only the use of a screwdriver so now there's just a hole where the bootlid lock used to be.

Does anyone know of where I can get a replacement/alternative?

I have a 94 GR.

Don't replace it John - You still have the boot release lever in the car - just get the existing lock filled and painted and you'll have a cleaner looking rear - a lot of guys take these locks off anyway for aesthetic purposes.

Sorry to hear that John, IIRC, you can use the inscribed code ion the key to order a nerw lock from Mitsi, this probably isn't the cheapest option. Personally, I'd get an old lock and throw it in, the issue with this is that you can only use the 'open boot' lever to pop the boot. trying contacting Rory (steelroe is his alias on the forum), he might be able you help you out.

I was considering that - maybe covering over the hole with some kind of metal disc or badge.
What's the best practice out there for how this should be done.

If you do decide to replace it, and to make it match the front doors keywise, Camskill are doing a full lock set:

At ~€204 its not a cheap option though and doesn't include fitting.

Maybe steelroe might be able to sort you out with a set for less?

I would say its a job for a bodyshop unless you know what you're doing. If its not a good smooth job its going to look terrible I'd say.

Absolutely - Bodyshop time - I'm taking off my rear spoiler next week and replacing with a spoiler that has no central mount - same issue really - it will be filled and painted by the bodyshop - was also considering taking off the lock.
