What a waste

Postby ikeane » Tue Feb 07, 2006 3:03 pm

Did a nasty job on the FTO comin home from work last night. Slid, hit kerb, nearly took the 4 wheels from under the car. Luckily a cement pole stopped me. Early life crisis on the side of the road. Anyone know a good therapist?

Bad news ikeane, what sort of damage was caused?
What were thre driving condictions like at the time, were you cornering or did it happen on the straight? Sorry for all the questions, but lastly, what tyres do have on the car?

Sometimes I find that the FTO can really surprise me in terms of its excellent handling ability, other times, it can be quite skitish and unpredictable, depending on road conditions.

 How is that lucky?

Surely must have caused additional damage. Where did it happen?
What damage was done - chances of repair?

Argh.. That's crap..

Good thing you walked out of there... Althought you probably would have prefered for it not to happen at all.

Will you be fixing or buying another one?

Sorry to hear that, I hope the car is recoverable, but once you're not hurt the rest can be sorted out over time.

Cheers for the reply's. Hoping its mendable. Will get it moved out to a garage tomorrow and they'll let me know. Three of the wheels (shocks etc) are at an angle like this / front bumper, front left quarter panel, prob steering rack are all dusted.

Driving conditions weren't bad but the road is one of those smooth surfaces that doesnt need ice or rain to make it slippy. Slid just coming out of a light corner. Should have known better seeing as I drive it every day to and from work. Still, I can walk to work and thats the main thing.

Not sure what tyres I have CJ. Same ones as when it was imported but they're supposed to be ok for Irish roads.

If you're looking for parts you could do worse than PM Steelroe here - he is breaking a couple of FTO's at the moment and should have most bits you need.
