My cars been threathened!

Postby fatboyfat7 » Mon Mar 23, 2009 3:11 am

This is a nightmare. Down in the small town where i work (in a hotel) we've been having hassle with young (16-18 ) scumbags. I had some bother the other night when they were standing outside the door bothering american guests. They were pissed drunk but long story short they've threatened 'to get' my car. Im freaked about it cause theres nothing really like that down there so its obvious its mine and I KNOW they know it! And these lads are the type who'll actually do it too. Now there is a private car park out the back of the hotel but its easily accessible and of course there's cameras but still... The last two days ive been running in and out to check on it. I dunno what to do.

I'd get a second one chris, I know the feeling you have, used be worried about my car too in a pub I used work in in a small town, same type of story. Wasnt worth the hassle. Get something small for work, even if its a 1.1 L fiesta or corsa or something anyway. You've put too much into that car now. Also report to the guards what they sadi and who they were so that if god forbid anything does happen its on record that they said they were going to damage it. I hate scum like that, and I tihnk I know the town you're on about and may well know the scum too. One lad wouldnt be called 'handbags' or 'schoolbags' or something like that would he??

^^ I'd report it to the guards and make a note of it yourself too just incase.

Possibly tell the hotel also, if I was an employee and felt my property was threatened while at work I'd let them know. The fact that they are already bothering guests should help.
Get out of here Nebulon! No one likes your style...

I think reporting it to the gardai ain't a bad call, and then leave it in the car park (assuming you know the CCTV camera's are actually working).

Sounds like an isolated group in the town? The kind of group a lot of locals would be happy to see properly punished, so I'd like to think it'd be one of those cases that (god forbid, but..) if something did happens, the hotel would be quite happy to hand over the evidence and the gardai would actually do something about it.

Report it to the gardai, in the past 2 weeks they've been very helpful to me what with break ins and shoplifting.

If they have a car they spin around in, take the reg of that too, and park it under a camera every night.

Tough one - on the one hand taking photos and reporting to the gardai is the sensible thing to do....

Find out who they are (and where they live) - and report them. If there is damage done to your FTO you (& the guards) won't have to look too far to find the culprits.

While I agree this is a good idea, if they actually damage the car there is little chance of proving it was them without actual evidence - and don't expect the guards to beat a confession out of them. in my experience these crap know their rights.

Park in full view of the camera etc, but at the end of the day, if they vandalise your car, are you going to get any cash out of them to repair it? Unlikely!!

If you could somehow electrify your whole car once you put the alarm on, now that'd be cool!

I don't think there's a solution to this apart from getting a little sh1t box of a car, either that or get an uzi and kill the lot of them, sounds like you'd be doing society a favour!

Please note my uzi comment!

I agree a pre-emtive strike may work, but I still don't think that this would deter them, these type of people aren't the brightest bunch in the world I would imagine, they could take a kicken, but it wouldn't necessarily stop them doing it either way!

I know if i was you i'd purchase 3 tiny wireless Cameras there very cheap on ebay i am thinking about doing this myself, get an old junk laptop hook receiver in2 it then bury it in the car sumwer:D, if there going to key it/ beak ur mirrors ull catch them i doubt they'll be smart enuf to cover there faces.

I'd also try and get a quick written statement off anyone who also heard them treating you, i think even if you dnt have evidence if they damage your car they may be liable due to the threats.

OT but I've been thinking of getting 2 of these for the back or front in case I ever have an accident and someone won't admit liability/someone backs into my car without telling etc etc....

Dunno if the back one would see through a tinted window though...

i love that pic! 8)

If you tell the guards they have been threatening to damage you car and they actually do they guards can do nothing without proof!! I looked into this before when someone threatened to bust all the windows in Lee's civic cause he wouldnt give your man a spin home!! (Dope!) a week or so later someone (hmm i wonder who) thought it would be funny to throw chinese food at the civic while it was parked outside the house! Rang the guards and told them about your man and they said there is nothing they could do! :(

Well nothings happened yet but im still waiting. These young fellas arent really afraid of the guards to be honest. I know for a fact one or two of them have been up in court for quite serious stuff in the past. Everybody in the town knows them. My General Manager was working when this all started but i was told i should have never gotten involved as technically I was 'off duty'. finished about an hour before it kicked off. I should probably be clear here and point out that its MAINLY one guy, but you know how this type are. The 'lads' wont be too far behind. He actually went for me that night outside the door but i managed to pin him to the ground, never hitting him or anything. But then he came back half an hour later and hit me (off guard too) but I was fine so let it go. Now it was witnessed and him threatening the car was heard by our bar manager but sure it makes no difference. Ive been thinking about a second car but 90% of my driving is up and down to work. I couldnt justify keeping the FTO (related charges like tax and insurance) just for my days off. Its a sickener. i think ill talk to the boss tomorrow and mention saying it to the guards. Just for the sake of it if nothing else. They'll know the guy im talking about. As for the CCTV, they all work but quality maybe an issue. I wouldnt be confident of any clear identification from it though if he was to say, throw a rock through the window. And TBH, ive really been considering a change in jobs anyway, with only a few weeks left at college. Think this may prove the push I need. I love that car too much! Id prefer to move jobs than potentially have it damaged! Id prefer if he tried attacking me than my car, after all, people heal, cars dont!

If the guy actually hit you then he has probably settled the score with you then - no ?

If he does something, then why not bring him up on an assault charge for striking you presuming you have CCTV and/or witnesses ?

I would have presumed the score was settled too but the car threat came AFTER that. No principles! They just hang around all day waiting to get up to this stuff. And I could always do the 'pre-emptive' strike thing but to be honest that would only fuel it. Im not from the town so its not as if my friends are behind me the whole time either unlike this knob. I'll just have to be careful and keep an eye on things, while keeping an eye out for a different job!
