Docks Location

Postby steelroe » Thu Aug 19, 2004 11:09 pm

Right now before some smart ass says the docks are by the sea I know.

Where exactly are the imported cars stored at the docks. I have been planning a trip to see what is available.

Wonder if there are anyb FTO's down there at the moment.

I'm sure one of the Dublin guys will be more help, but where I collected my FTO is:

* with your back to the Point Depot/Shell Garage, go left up along the road (i.e. away from the bridge, toll bridge I think?)
* next right
* second right I think it was where my FTO was, but that's guarded by harbour police, so won't be able to stroll in there.

Thats where the cars arrive, so I guess wherever you check them out can't be far - harbour police should be able to point you in the right direction at least?

hope that helps,
Kev.

Theres a few garages around there full of imports but a lot of the ones I saw were not prepared for sale (Filthy ect..). I think DUblin Automotive is there aswell but he's stupid expensive,

And dont forget www.wca.ie are doing Jap auctions again I might have a stock list from a week or two ago if you want?

Don't know exactly, but if you take a spin in around the docks I'm sure you'll find it quite easily. Kev's instructions are quite good -You can't miss the entrancce for the docks if you follow his instructions! I've only been up there once and it seemed to me that a lot of those jap import places had closed (or at least moved premises) a lot of abandoned buildings which were previously car warehouses -Autoterminal, etc. Either that or the buildings are so shabby they just look abandoned :wink:
There also used to be a place on Sherrif St. (turn left just after the shell garage). I couldn't see anything there, but Sherrif St. is all warehouses so maybe it was just closed when I called up.
If you drive into the docks, past the gate lodge/barrier, sign posted for passanger ferry terminal. If you take a right High Grade autos is on the road running parallel to the main access road. (Actually their yard backs on to the main access road, but the entrance is on the parallel rd. There are a few signs up for it. This is the only place I could find, but it was a Saturday and the place seemed quite dead :!:
Anyway here's the phone no. for High grade if you want to give them a call. 01 8364241. I just rang, no FTO's in stock but said he had some on the way.
