Power Question

Postby rsg » Wed Jul 14, 2004 1:08 am

I finally got my FTO on Thursday, and what an amazing ride. Just wanted to ask a few things. I was racing my friend in his Corsa 1.4 and he was killing me on pulloff. Only started catching him in 2nd gear, tip or automatic. His car is standard.

I got an 4AT GR '95 Model, and was just wondering how you guys race them when you do. Do you think it could be the Lambda Sensor or something?

After the racing, I decided to try first reving it in Neutral and then slapping it into drive, which seemed to work a lot better but is this ok for the car and how you guys race them?

Just was a bit curious cause it's definitely not right as far as I'm concerned.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Congrats on getting your FTO! Mine should arrive in Dublin about the 7th August hopefully!!

Heh, bad buzz getting done on initial acceleration by a 1.4 Opel though!

rsg, I would advise against getting the revs up in neutral and droping it into drive for standing starts, its a sure-fire way towards breaking your gearbox.
1st gear on on the Tip gearbox lacks torque, try moving up into second @ lower RPM. Second gear on the FTO is where it all happens as regards acceleration.
