Helen, I'm guessing from your Album that you have some bad news? :(

Hey guys,
thanks for getting the picture over for me, could not figure how to do it.
yes as ye can see i had a litle bit of an accident. am so gutted. :( my poor baby was deemed a write off on friday.
was driving along the N5 from castlebar on sunday night when some old women shot out from a side road doing about 80km. i :x was doing about 95km and next thing BANG  . she smashed straigh into my side, then she spun and then i spun and she clipped the back off my car to and then we ended up in a pile in the ditch.
Myself and Tony were in the car, i have alot of bruises and am very very sore, tony has a few cracked ribs so he is worse off than me. think the pictures speak for themselves. the only pannel that is not dented is the boot.
Just wondering what happens to the car when the insurance company takes it, can i strip all the stuff out of her first, is that possible???

Gutted for ya, sounds like it happened really quickly...

Dunno about the insurance setup, but from what I remember from a write off we had years ago (Dads car) I think its your property, and the insurance company make an offer to buy it off you, so up to that point its yours and you can do what you like with it. At least that was the arrangement with that insurance company back then, about 1990 I think it was.

Really sorry to hear that Helen, hope the bruises and ribs heal up quickly, you must have gotten an auful shock.

I had a write -off a few years back and the Insurance Company offered me the value of the car less the scrap value. So I could keep the car and take thier offer or they would arrange for the garage that had the car to pay me the scrap value (it was one of their own garages). So it depends on whether you have somewhere to keep it and if it's worth you while keeping it for parts for your next one  , or to sell off the parts.

I have to say if I had space (and I don't) I'd love to have a spare one there for parts as I need them.

If you have anything particularly expensive in it , e.g. Sterio/Amps etc you should take them out anyway - I just went to the garage that the car was towed to and told them I was taking out my stuff - it was no problem.

Anyway I hope it works out OK for you.

Helen, will you be holding onto the custome registration? Can it be transferred from one car onto another?

I do not belive this is possible. Ring your local Vehicle registration office to confirm.
