Customs delays

Postby CJ » Tue Jul 03, 2007 9:58 am

Anybody know ho long it normally takes US packages to clear thru Irish Customs? When I track it online, its flagged as being received into Customs a few days ago.

it can take a while especially if you have to pay tax on it... you'll probably get a letter or something saying that you owe tax and who to contact, something similar happened to me when i imported the turbo kit for the GS.

It seems a bit random - perhaps it's dependant on the courier used to import the items.. I've had the following experiences..

DHL from USA: Tracking claimed no hold up in customs but was charged tax (35e on a 400usd item)

DHL from Hong Kong: Tracking claimed no hold up in customs but was charged tax (50e on a 250usd item)

USPS/DHL from USA: Tracking claimed 5 day hold up in customs & was charged tax (50e on a 250usd item)
