Dial rings

Postby Bernard » Mon Dec 31, 2007 6:43 pm

I fitted my dial rings yesterday and I think they make a great improvement to the dash. (Thanks Jay)

I opened the center console to fit the other rings but looking at the back of the gauges, they look poxy hard!
Colm was saying that aftermarket dials can't be fitted to the vac and oil temp gauges.
So before I go ripping the car to pieces I was wondering if that means the rings can't be fitted either?

When you have this console out you will find 3 screws at the back roughly where i have the yellow arrows!

Screw each of these out and each of the units will pop out from the back
Then its just a matter of taking the plastic caseing off and puttin in the ring ;) ya do it once and youll fly it the next time

That's the thing, I don't have clock & battery dials, I have the oil temp and vac gauges.

It's a different unit and the connections at the back look tricky...

they're handy enough to get off Bernard, there are some thumb screws to unscrew, make a note of how the brackets are turned and which is which before you remove them. there are also some philips screws to remove. as long as you make a note of those brackets, you'll be fine.

Cheers, I brought the car in from England so the conversion was already done.
One good point is that the conversion also derestricts the car, so I'm fine for the trip down the autobahn

Cheers Colm,
I was a bit worried about disconnecting the vac gauge but now I think I'll go at it this weekend,

vac guage is simple enough, you just need to move the clip further down the pipe and then pull the pipe off the back of the clock. the hose is quite flexible. I think I have a dial face without a hole in it if you're intersted, will have a look.
