No I wasn't driving. Was in my buddies 3 door cossie. the one with whale tail. The car wasn't an original RS500 buthe had an RS 500 intercooler, and bigger injectors, and a huge turbo (not sure of size). He had sent the head and block off to UK to get worked on at a cost of 2 grand and the car was a bit of a beast after that. We cranked out 165 - 170mph quite a few times before the big end bearing went? He got that fixed and sold the car sometime after that. Drives a 450bp R33 now, but I don't think I have ever been that fast since.
Have done 155ish quite a few times in BMW M3s. Actually its quite a bland experience. The M3 is such a cruiser you hardly notice it or feel it or hear it. In a car with a massive turbo though.. :D its like a kick in the lower back. lovely.

I'm not sure I'm familar with that particular private road

FTO-Ireland does not condone driving @ breakneck speeds on public roads!

I'm almost ashamed to say that I haven't gone fast than about 225-230..KMPH!

Although it's not always about the speed itself - the conditions also have something to say.. I might as well have been going a ga-zillion-an hour... I was driving.. I had just gotten my license, but had done some track driving (about 6hours) - so I THOUGHT I was the king of the road! (track!)

I was on what can best be desribed as a back road to a backroad - in a directors company car.. I'd been asked to drive it 500mtrs and empty the boot..but when I sat in to the tasty little Pug GTI6 with half leather bucketseats I KNEW I had to take it for a spin.. So I did..
About an hour later when I handed the keys back, face white as a sheet, the secretary just smiled and say something to the effect of "lovely little car isn't it?"..

Yes it is - I only returned cause I was out of petrol..

*** THis was of course on a track ***

yeah I know this autobahn... Nice stretch of unrestricted law abiding 155mph driving possible.

Hijack - what about how fast have you gone in your FTO ?

Personally I have only been up to the limiter (190kph or so?) a few times and I must say it feels as though there is plenty left there.

I didn't really think there was any point in getting a delimited just for the one time you hit an empty private road or the Nurnberg Ring

Squeezed about 220kph out of a Daewoo Espero in my time in Germany on an autobahn. This was all out downhill! In that car if you hit 100kph the side mirrors vibrated!

In the FTO I briefly touched 140kph twice, but as a rule I just stick to the limit - always picturing the scene of a cop stopping me just above the speed limit and having no sympathy for 'yer man in the sports car".
