Hola Senores y Senoritas,

I was fortunate enough to win an auction for a complete Mongoose Exhaust last night. However I need to arrange courier pick up myself, I have done this before so I have an idea of what to do..but I was wondering if anybody here has done it recently and if so what company they used..Also I'm a bit concerned that at the time I was going through a business for which I no longer work.. Essentially I'm hoping GLS wont just tell me to bugger off cause I don't have an account with them..

Here's the link to the auction if you wanna have a look..

TA :-) I hope it lives up to what I have in my head.. A bit of roar when I stick the foot to the floor but otherwise quiet enough to not make children in my estate cry/explode.

Quick update on this - I rang the easy send lads - nice peeps..

My exhaust is a little bit too big - but they'll take it anyways.. so I'm getting a boxed package picked up from UK - it's 179cm * 75cm * 26cm - and weighs 19kg - they're gonna send it to me here in work (Dub 15).. Online tracking the whole shabang..

26.99gbp

I'm fairly impressed this far!

Will be driving it with the cat on till september as I have the nct coming up.. so it wont be proper till then I'm afraid :-\

Can't wait to get it sorted tho..that and the dent in my front wing..

Was just about to start removing the standard exhaust when I realised that I'm going to need a gasket or two..Does anybody know where I could best get these in a relative hurry? (I have the day off)

Did the seller not leave the nuts and gaskets on the exhaust?

You can get exhaust gaskets made up or you could bore out your original gaskets. Make sure you know the diameter of the pipework - it looks about 2.5 or 3 inches but you'll need to know either way - maybe bring the decat section along when buying the gaskets.

No bolts - I figured I'd reuse mine - they look to be i good nick.. Seller did include one gasket - to it's completely shot.. and I don't want to rely on my old ones being in on piece after removng the exhaust..I might as well get new ones..

Was thinking I'd head on down to motor factors once deadliest cath is over - hopefully the rail will have stoped then as wel..

Turned out I had a pair of gaskets i the shed from when I got my 1st cat-pipe, so I fitted the exhasut today..

Spent about 10hours (ok 2 of them I sat in the couch looking out at the pouring rain!) removing the old unit. In the end I had to buy new wrench set (hooray for halfords) as my 2 cheapy ones didn't cut the mustard..
I also needed to buy a hacksaw (hooray for homebase!) when it transpired the I couldn't seperate the original center pipe from the org backbox..
Installing the "new" exhaust took no more than 40-60mins.
It sounds great - BUT I feel like I vandalised my car..I do NOT like the look at all. :-/ (NOI it aybody else with a similar setup)
I think In 6months time I will start asking around for a custom back bit.

The car is much quiter inside now that I have a center section on with no holes in it. I have yet to actually go for a proper drive as it was p*ssing down when I finished and I'm on "slicks" at the moment I didn't feel like chancing getting more dents.

Theres a nice rumble when the car idles, nothing too loud - but a quite deep note..

I couldn't help myself so I fired her up when I had the old unit off (exhaust ends at Cat) - I made the neighbors baby cry..I kid you not..MAN that was loud! WroumWroumputputROOOOOARwhaaaaaaaa!

Pictures and a spot of video to follow..

The Mongoose tends to sit quite low and detracts from the look a bit, if this is whats putting you off, I'd suggest tieing up the exhaust @ the hangers with wire (i.e coat hanger etc).

Nah it's the 5" single exit I don't like... if there was another one in the otherside to help the symmetry then yes that'd look ok..right now it just looks too boy-racery..

Right now it suits you - you did get caught for acting the boy racer recently, no? ;)

I think that the large exit actually looks OK - you'll get used to it. On the upside its no Super Drager i.e. loud as hell!
