Has anyone replaced a windscreen before?

hi all i was wondering if anyone has replaced the windscreen before is it easy or hard. never noticed a small stone chip under the wiper blade and low and behold it has cracked right up the middle never had this happen to me before soooo annoyed. thanks in advance

thanks for the advice my insurance doesnt cover it as im not fully comp and after a call to autoglass 439 gbp just as well i was sitting down at the time. looks like i'll just have to bite the bullet and take the hit
