The new Mad cow sliproad onto the M50

Postby GarLaf » Fri Oct 03, 2008 11:16 am

Has anyone tried the new slip road from the N7 onto the M50 north. Its now two lanes and fully surfaced. It has been the highlight of my commute the last few days. You can really test the handling of the FTO.
If there is nobody in front of you, try going flat out around the bend. At the top of the climb the camber of the road changes and the weight shifts. Its a real heart in mouth moment. Not that I condone that sort of thing :smt002

Similar to the slip road coming off the N4 onto the M50 South its a downward curve and at the peak of the turn its very tight, can be a bit dodgy if theres traffic in the other lane!! :D

Maybe you meant the same....but the slip road from N4 to M50 Northbound is wicked! Id buy an AE86 or similar if I lived around that area

Sorta on / off topic but have regular M50 users noticed any improvment on traffic movement following the removal of the toll barriers? Is it just a case of moving the chaos further down the road?

Its deffinately improved south bound but the M50 north bound after the plaza is an absolute mess. It can take me an hour to get from there to the airport in the evening. The road works are causing 4 lanes into 2.

No difference for me at all CJ. Mind you I don't use the plaza during rush hour.. only at weekend. No difference though. still a very slow drive through the 15km 60kph area.... ZZZzzzz.... the finished bit heading south from N4 junction to past N7 is brilliant... 3 lanes plus a hard shoulder. very smooth and well lit. no road noise etc. A pleasure to drive. I guess it will all be like this by 2010. that will be very very cool.

As mentioned the northbound traffic (toll plaza to airport exit) is crazy at rush hour!

Takes me hour and half to get to Swords from Park West in the evenings in the car....thank god I take the bike most days....25 mins :D

Southbound definitely imporved.
