Band expanders

Has anyone got experience of working with both single and double wire band expanders. Both have 12V positive feeds, the double wire unit has a negative feed in addition. I've installed a single wire (thanks Muad) expander which is working fine in terms of the signal shift, problem is, the reception is brutal. Now the Galant has the same rear screen antenna thats in the FTO but I didn't have the same problem in the GPX. I'm starting to like the double din unit thats in place and might keep it - if I can improve the radio reception. I need to check if the power antenna wire is connected correctly, in the mean time, if anyone has had success with double wire expanders over the single wire option - let me know.

Your tinted rear window could be blocking the signal.
Sounds like bull, but we've actually fitted external aeriels to cars that have printed antennas on the side or rear windows, as the tint material is blocking the signal.

Interesting. Bear in mind the the tint is applied on the inside over the screen antenna. I had the same setup in the GS a few years back without any significant impact on reception.

Er no. We've had to retro-fit aeriels to Avensis Versos and Land Cruisers after tinting the windows. I didn't imagine it.

What I'm really interested in here guys is a comparison between single and twin wire band expanders - anyone?
