You may recall the recent FTO for sale in Newbridge -The red one with the white stripes down the side. (Daz suggested it might be one of your project cars). There seems to be a common theme...Red car, white stripes, Dave, Kildare area  Just curious.

Rumbled!!!! :smt003

You are quite correct Mr Mustang!

I remember my Dad having a choice between the Acclaim, the Marina and the Renault 18 for a company car. And he had to drive the length and breath of old Ireland's potholed roads in these type of sh1tbuckets.

Needless to say to went with the Renault (same colour as below).

That's an odd choice surely the renault was a class above the acclaim, and the manina was a bigger (older) car than the acclaim as well.
The 18 was the natural choice. I actually have a vivid memory of this car. Friends of the family used to own one. Loads of electrics, ew, em, esr. V impressive in the mid 80's :!:

Agreed - It was what was in the Company pool at the time - they tended to change all the cars at the same time - the Marina and Renault were in the same price bracket - it was towards the end of the Marina's lifecycle and probably at the start of the Acclaims. I doubt there was much of a price difference between the acclaim and the others - it would have been the more modern of that bunch.

We had a white one of these which rusted really badly, I remember helping my dad pin sheets of alluminium over the biggest rust caused holes - in the end he painted the entire bottom section of the car in blue :) The start of my infatuation with cars....
