how much should i use to refill the AIR CON piping, i got 14fl oz from halfords, refilled via the valve as instructed, very tedious indeed , TBO it dont feel as cold as i had hoped.
do i simply need to get more gas....if so, how much is too much, what is max pressure through the AIR CON system.
I had got a quote off a guy before who does this professionally.. €100 is the standard. I seem to recall that he said it can be hard to know how much is remaining and therefore how much to refill, so he replaces the whole thing. I assume he means gas tank by this, but my knowledge on this is poor, so could be wrong.
No idea though if it is good value or not. I'll ask more about the pressure though if I'm talkin to him soon.

Thats right - waste of money in the end. get it refilled professionally, should cost 70 - 100 euro.
Also - bear in mind that there may be absolutely nothing wrong with your gas and that it might be the magnetic clutch for the aircon not engaging.
When my aircon started to get warm I diagnosed it down to the magnetic clutch. I replaced this on mine without touching the gas and now I'm frozen out of it on a hot day again

mine was perfect but got my hands on a can from halfords and tried the presure in the sistem and it was a bit overloaded so i let it loose a bit .
still works good.

ALso remember that the magnetic clutch will not engage unless the system is pressurised correctly. There is a pressure switch to prevent damage to the compressor.
The magnetic clutch on the centre of the air con compressor pulley. With the air con off the centre of the pulley will not spin. If you turn on theair con the clutch is engaged and the centre of the pulley will spin.
To test it you need to jack up the car and supply power directly to the clutch..
You the n need to run the car and check to see if it is spinning. Please be very careful not to get caught in the spinning beltsand pulleys. PIEMAN wont be much good minus several fingers.
