Yeah, great day out, really enjoyed in and was nice to see what the s2k could do in the dry. Great to get a spin in the SC Zed, savage power, and impressive through the corners. Some exotic cars there, but the FTO is still one of the best sounding cars down the straight!

Great to see an FTO out on track and about time too. And fair dues to OI for having the balls to bring the FTO around Mondello.

Fantastic craic - no reason why any FTO couldn't have a laugh around Mondello.

Heres a couple of flyby vids featuring the FTO, the S2000 and the Zed.

Tom, loving the above pic, it would have been great to get the three of us together! :) The VTEC sounded epic going past the pits. Shane, thanks for the kind words, mad how quick your car is, glad you're getting more and more out on track. Here's to 8 eh guys? ;)

Zed perfomed well beyond my abilities at the moment. I need more track time (and perhaps some tuition) on the international to get the best from the Zed but it was well able to mix it with the most exotic machinery there. Started the day doing 2.13's and finished up doing 2.05's and there was only a couple of cars going faster than that.

The combination of upgraded DS2500 pads and PF floating discs on the Brembos along with the Tein coilovers, Nismo ARBs and control arms, R888 tyres (275r/245f), upgraded clutch & flywheel and most especially the Kaaz LSD made for a very potent track weapon. Having 420bhp/355Ib.ft torque was actually a smaller part of what made the Zed quick - Mondello is quite a tight and technical track suiting lighter cars with good handling like Exiges and Elise's although from the times my mate was taking from the pitwall the only things going quicker towards the end of the day were a couple of time attack cars.

I didn't push it to the level it could have gone to due to a combination of (relative) lack of talent and the fact I needed to be able to drive it home again.

Lap of the day for me was actually as a pax in Dereks Elise (Lauras BF - known to most regulars on here from a few of the FTO meets) who knew the International well and really hung the Elise out there. Laps were getting progressively quicker and Derek was really pushing on through parabolica (I think it was) taking a chunk of apex on the right hander before drifting the Elise on full throttle and an armful of lock with the tail hanging out when at one point the tyres had started to heat up and the tail just went that bit too far - Derek hit the lockstops on full opposite lock and at full throttle on the exit of the corner and that was that - several 360's later and with a cabin full of tyre smoke he managed to keep it on the track and we went on our way. That wouldn't have been the spin of the day though - that goes to this Corrado (wheel bearing failure)-

Having been around Mondello in the past, I can confirm its great craic. I would love to see a brace of FTOs on the circuit at some point, the 20 year anniversary in 2014 is a perfect opportunity to get 20 cars on the track - a 20/20 track day if you will. Plenty of notice guys!
