The speed limits won't make much difference to me - I have a self imposed limit of 50mph on the open road and I stick rigidly to it!
I've driven the TT course before - there may be no speed limit but there certainly is a limit to the speed you can drive on this course - its really no different to a well tarmaced (ok I know thats rare) bit of West of Ireland road complete with stone walls and its certainly better policed than the vast majority of West of Ireland roads.

It would probably make more financial and logistical sense for the UK boys to come to Ireland rather than Isle of Man - more frequent, larger, faster and cheaper ferry crossings - and they can meet the FTO Ireland club as well. Probably better for us to arrange something for the UK guys and them to visit us - they'll have less crowded roads over here (West of Ireland anyhow!) - and nice scenery - I think we'd have enough for that elusive Grand Prix in Tynagh this time round and we could book out the hotel in Kinvarra.

CJ - Dave - Nigel etc could escort them down from Dublin.
We might even swing by Limerick on the way home and get some young fellas to cherry pick some choice bits of gear - I bags Purple Ronnies alloys and Adies Facelift Bozzspeed front

CJ -maybe you could mention this to UK guys - give plenty of notice - say September???

I'm in agreement there. For those of you that arn't aware, the old FTO crew (Rob, Kevin et al) organised something similar back in 1999, you can read about it on Dave Wilsons site here. We would need some solid commitment from everyone, I can see something like this being a popular idea with the UK guys, 5 Irish FTOs in the group wouldn't do us justice.

Myfeckin FTO wrote:CJ -maybe you could mention this to UK guys - give plenty of notice - say September???

Personally, I think it would be a great idea, if we can gauge enough local interest for a September timeframe (late Sept. I'm in China the first two weeks ;)), I'm more than happy to kick off proceedings.

P.S. I'm gonna split this topic as the title is now defunct.

Sounds like something I'd be interested in, but surely somewhere on the east coast would make more sense, rather than ask the UK guys to ferry across to Ireland and THEN to drive the width of the country!

Maybe somewhere like Wicklow/Kilkenny kinda area? Should be plenty of rural towns around that direction, and must be some karting tracks around there if thats what people wanna do?

just my 2c...

Just reading that again... maybe August would be better than sept (just to be contrary  ), more likely to have better weather, and would be a bit warmer if nothing else? Plus with a lot of the guys on the site in the Dublin area it would be more likely to get a bigger crowd if its kept close to Dublin?

I'd be up for something like this guys, money dependant of course, I've got a lot on this year with various shows and the trip down to Monaco in August, but if I can afford to pop over I will

Rather than let this one die, I wanted to keep the topic alive to see if theres any more interest out there. As it stands, we have three interested parties this side of the Irish sea, we need a good few more to make a meet like this worthwhile. So guys, any more takers? If we can get the numbers up, then we can start taking dates, locations and activities.

Looking forward to seeing your bumper - I take it you started with a prefacelift Bozz and modded it a bit. I'm gonna try put the facelift lights into the classic bumper - if you have any advice please feel free to share it with your good pal across the pond

PM me if you don't want to share your mystery recipe with the world and its missus

I've been over to the UK a few times with some v low cars - it always pays to tell them at the ferry port and they generally ensure that you are then last on (while the boat is low in the water and no major ramp to climb) and first off for the same reason (always nice to beat the traffic off the boat). Try and keep all the FTO's together using this excuse and you'll all get off at the same time at the head of the queue. 8)

Lets hold off on sideline discussions until we know what our plan is, I don't want to get peoples hopes up and then have to cancel due to lack of interest.

Cj you know i'd be up for it since i've been to a few meets over in england and have a few fto friends over there, don't know if they would be coming over here as i haven't ben on any english sites since before xmas (ya know leg et all) and as regards the issue with the bumpers if i can get my black fto over (52 mm drop) once your kept on the lower level it isn't an issue. i'm actually going over to England at the end of may to meet up with some fto owners, and i'm going in the black one.

CJ - Really need to get some idea on whether this is on or not ..... Its going to take some organising from my end and I'll need as much time as possible. Its not even been mentioned on the UK site for the moment until I hear from you.

Cheers

JJ, due to the lack of local interest, I think its probably fair to say that this one is a bit of a non-runner, lets put the idea on the back burner for the moment and we can revisit it in the future.

I hear you JJ, one of the main problems we face is that we're a very small community in comparison to the FTOOC, its not the first time we've struggled to get people together for a meet (IIRC the most we ever had was 10 cars). If we have say 10 or 15 people coming over and only a handful of of local support then I don't feel its worthwhile. As I said, we can revisit this meet option, maybe next spring or summer, alls not lost yet! We're more than happy to have you guys over and show you a good time but I think it would make for a more eventful meet if we had a better turnout of Irish FTOs, I hope you understand.

I'd definately be interested in this and would have another FTO owner interested going to this aswell, so there's another 2more FTO's that are definates.

I think us Irish FTO owners should make an effort if UK owners are willing to and it would be good to have them over here to see what some of them have done to their cars..

I'd nearly browse this site everyday and this is the 1st time Ive seen this thread, i never noticed it before??? Maybe others are the same thats why there hasnt been that much of an interest in it..
