Bluetooth phone car kit

Postby kevinod » Mon Jun 07, 2004 10:33 pm

Hey y'all,

was over in Bristol for the weekend, and called up to Birmingham on Friday to catch the motor show up there. Great event, all manufactures I can think of were there with the exception of BMW :?: and had a good look around. Aston Martin/TVR... one day you will be mine, oh yes, you will be mine... :P

On my wandering around the ICE/various accessories area came across a phone car kit for bluetooth phones, £99 stg so took one home with me. Fitted it today, all worked straight away, no problems! Just had to find somewhere to put the control box inside the dash somewhere, plug in the cables etc. and route all the cables etc to the control box. All thats showing is the microphone between the rear view mirror & sun shade and the answer/hang up pad, nice and tidy.

Has voice recognition too, you can record a name and it'll dial a number for you after you press the green button and say the name, which is very cool. All comes though the car speakers, radio is muted and all when the phone rings (radio display says "phone"!).

So, if you've got a phone with bluetooth in it and fancy a car kit I reckon these are the way to go. Change your phone and it should work with the new one (assuming it has bluetooth too). Of course I've only put it in today so the lastability test has yet to come but when it worked so easily straight away hopeful it'll keep doing that.

http://www.parrot.fr, product the CK3000. The site has a dealer locator, apparently PEKAAR Technology are doing it:

Address: 2A Convent road, Dun Loaghaire
Phone: 00353 1 2178630
Email: phelim@pekaartech.com
Web:

City: Co DUBLIN

Oh yeah, installed it on my Citroen Xsara, so dunno how it'd work on the FTO... Fine I'd guess but worth a mention in case anyone thought it was an FTO I put it into. The FTO I ordered from Japan still isn't moving so I've asked for a refund. :?

Hey CJ,

latest on the car I was trying to import, its over 3 months now and still no shipping date, so I've asked for a refund, but haven't even got a reply from them yet & no extra few €€ in my bank account so I'll have to see what they're up to.

Pity, was looking forward to getting it but c'est la vie I guess...

Not sure what I'll do now, want to go house shopping so might hold off on changing car, but haven't decided yet... Nice new toy in my Xsara to entertain me for a while though.

Was at the show as well last week.... jees but there are some beautiful cars doing the rounds at the moment... must have spent about 20 minutes sitting in that new TVR making revving noises under by breath...

That shower in Japan just came back to me, supposedly have space on a ship at the end of June. Not sure whether to believe them, are they just stalling for time or what... End of june + 6-7 weeks = mid august I guess? Just when my insurance is due for renewal as it happens...

Think I'll email back looking for guarantees and assurances, not that it'll prob make any difference but at least get them to put it in writing.

Kevin, I was in high grade autos on the docks about two weeks ago -no fto's in stock and none on the way. Anyway I was talking to the guy about the current situation with shipments out of Japan. He said that he was only now receiving a shipment which he had ordered months ago, january I think he said. But he did say that the backlog is clearing and the current situation is much better.
