Poor performance

Postby Damo » Mon Mar 20, 2006 12:07 pm

Morning guys, I've been having quite a bit of trouble with my car lately generally very little power it picks up and goes down again. I brought her to the Mitsi gargae in Mullingar and they showed Cam and Crank Sensor errors I replaced both of these which was quite a job. I noticed a huge improvement in the power afterwards but she is still picking up speed and then slowing down again, any ideas fuel filter maybe?

I'm assuming that these were the only two errors that showed up on the MUT-II? Did the check for error coades after the new sensors were fitted?
It could be a problem with the fuel filter alright, if you've never replaced it, it would be worth a shot. The fuel pump could also be at fault...

Yes they were the only two errors, I didn't get it rechecked again might be worth a shot i suppose they said they would re-test it for free if I needed it done again.

sounds like it's still pinking, maybe the errors pointing to crank position sensor, wasnt the sensor itself but a wire from it ! but it sounds like your timing is still intermittently advancing !

Correct we noticed some of the wires were stripped when we took out the Cam Sensor I thought that was problem solved. I just had a new timing belt fitted a couple of montsh ago, could this be whats causing the problem?
