Postby D.J'S FTO » Thu Sep 07, 2006 2:46 pm

Hey everyone, I had a bad expierance last weekend where my brakes went soft when i came into a bend, luckily i got round it o.k but it highlighted that i should replace my brakes. I can get standard ones for it no problem,I would like to get uprated brakes for it but not sure where i to get them, Does anyone know of anywhere i could get them? dave..

What have you in mind, pads & disks or calipers too?

What model FTO have you? GS/GR/GX/GPX/GPvR/etc?

Its a gr, probably just disks and pads for now, it would be big money for calipers??

There's a few bits and pieces that you can do that make a bit of a difference. Uprated disks & pads should improve braking straight away, as should steel braided hoses.

For a bit more you can go to GPX calipers, should be able to pick up a used pair of these handy enough but remember you'll need disks and pads too.

Mines a GR but I put GPX front calipers on it, GR calipers are 1 pot while GPX ones are 2 pot so it gives a bit better breaking power. That and the disks & pads are a little bigger too. Ricerocket & Steelroe should be able to quote you a price for GPX calipers.

The next step beyond that would be brembos or AP calipers.

For disks & pads Camskill(.co.uk) would be able to supply, worth giving Ricerocket a shout too.

Prob won't make a noticable difference but it would be worth thinking about replacing your brake fluid too, could be there over 10 years now so worth putting fresh stuff in.

Thanks for the advice, might go for Brembo's.I have a supplier for them that might be able to get them for me.If not i'll probably put GPX calipers on it.Will post up a price on Brembo's if i can get them.

Regards Dave.
