Hello all

Thought I'd drop in and say hello, been scanning through your boards and generally having a nose around.

I'm living in the UK but am from Dublin (old mate of CJs). Been living over here about 18 months. I'm looking at buying a GPX, have the cash in my account. Will probably spend up to about 5.5k sterling on one.

If anyone has any suggestions/scare stories that they'd like to relate, please do so. Had a look at the buying guide and through as many threads as I could but sure any advice is useful. I'm terrible with money, it burns a hole in my pocket but really want to make sure I get the right car for the right money!

Trusting you don't mind a Dub hanging around in here even tho I've defected :)

When are we having that pint CJ? Overdue mate!

Alright Pal, as I said, make sure to take a look at a couple of cars before handing over cash, I know you're after a manual but take a Tip out for a spin as well to get an idea what it feels like in comparison.

Good luck with the search and don't hesitate to give me/us shout if you've any questions.

Cheers for the offer mate. Was after black or silver though. Managed to source a black one with a few bits and bobs, going to pick it up on Sunday provided it is solid when I drive it.

Might see you at a meet with it then :)

Daz, don't even consider helping Shane clean his car unless you have a whole day to spare, it looks like its been buried in a field FFS! ;)

Shane, you're letting the side down, get the finger out this weekend! :)

Haha, yea - u're right there. Big problem is bloddy started building again round the corner from the house so unless I got a car cover and put it on every night the car will just be dirty after 2 days........... but still - tomorrow's the day. Have a big shopping list of cleaning products, waxes and shampoos and I'm giving her a bath to remember :-) Hopefully I'll be a shiny happy person on Saturday evening.

spent almost 3 hours on saturday cleaning it - scrubs up well and the formula 1 range of car products are excellent - and thankfully sunday was an absolute scorcher (I've got the glow in the dark freckles and pink arms to prove it) so it was great having a shiny car to reflect the light.....

So just to keep you all up to date...

Made my purchase yesterday. Got a lovely pyrenees black manual GPX. What a sweet sound it makes!

It's a bit twitchy with the traction control on I have to admit, kinda feels like it's fighting you when you throw it into a corner. Doesn't stop me trying though!

I'm over the moon with it, landed it for £5.5k. I've already gotten Ripspeed gearknob and pedals, some new Kenwood speakers and a load of cleaning products. I think it'll keep me busy for a while.

The car i actually got is at this link http://www.cardomain.com/id/d7_jab and it looks pretty much as it does there.

Have to love the sound of that engine though, it's pure music.

We've had this problem before, its either a problem with your local cache or your proxy cache, most likely the latter...
