The first problem was that the male and female housing did not fit, it required sanding down for them to connect.

The big problem is that once everything is connected, it does not work.

Any one have these or can provide help?

try pluging the wires the other way around .

A clip on the housing prevents that, unless you are suggesting that gets sanded off as well?

There were several Kits bought from Ebay here that worked by reversing the plug conectors including mine . force them a bit , they should work .

Are the ballasts working ( do you hear any BUZZ noise from them ?)
