The new incoming requirement for E or is it CE (european) marked tyres may necessitate, buying (or borrowing
) a complete set of 4 tyres for the NCT even if the ones on the car are ok.
All in all not the attractive proposition it once was. Especially given the exchange rate. From it's recent peak in mid '08, the euro has fallen ~25% against the yen to it's current level -making jap imports more expensive. Probably not expensive in absolute terms, but probably not cheap compared to an "Irish" car.
If you are going down this route, buy the newest, best example you can find. Expect to keep teh car for a decent amount of time, and be prepared to take a hit come resale time.
