Leatherette seat covers

Postby karlf » Mon Nov 02, 2009 11:20 pm

I am looking at getting these and was browsing through ebay looking for ricerockets as I'd seen he advertised on there before. Spotted another guy selling leatherette seat covers for less than €169. Just wondering if anyone on here has both them or heard anything about them.
I was chatting to a guy on FTOOC who'd bought a set and was chuffed with them, I asked for some pics but he never sent any. The pics of the seats aren't great so it kinda puts me off. Think I'd rather pay extra for them and know your getting quality from ricerocket. Just thought I'd ask about these before I order.

I have the Ricerockets myself and can vouch for them. I think they were about €300 at the time - not sure how much they are now.

€169 is a good price alright - surely others on FTOOC have them ? Maybe do a bit more looking and checking with someone who has them before deciding.

I agree the pictures don't look great - maybe they are poorly installed. However if I was selling seat covers I would make it my business to make sure that the pictures were spot on.

Thats what I thought originally but was thinking that it might be down to the crap pictures. Just wondered if anyone had used them and what they thought of them. If anyone had them and was happy with them I would have tried to have seen them in person to examine the quality.

I have seen a few of ricerockets on a couple of members cars, the thing is I dont like having the same as everyone else, so was looking for something a little different. The small picture at the top of the ad looks like the seat cover is being held together with duck tape. I think its just shadows but it looks weird.
I'm considerng buying seat covers or bucket seats, but that leaves me with the standard cover on the back seat if I get bucket seats. I cant decide what to do. When I seen these I thought it might allow me to get the bucket seats and get these for the back seat. Its just got me even more confused.

Ther fit looks questionable in the pics in this ad:

Contact the guy who won this auction and ask him how they turned out (check the sellers feedback for the buyers username).

Good idea, never thought of that. Dont use ebay too often (haven't bought anything off it only sold one or two bits) so I'm not up with all the tricks for finding out this sort of info. I

Really don't look good from the pics, as said before I'd probably make sure they were a perfect fit for the advert.
Still let us know how you get on!

The key to getting the seat covers to fit is the metal wires that pull the seat tight in the middle part of the seat. if these covers don't have them they'll look baggy.

None of the covers have their own metal wires do they ? I needed to use coat hangers to make my own wires for the leatherette covers that I installed. Simple job and verrrry cheap :o

you use the wires from your old seat.

I'm preparing a step-by-step photo guide to removing seat covers.

Before you go completing this - a full step-by-step guide with images already exists to remove and install new seat covers. I think it's up on FTOOC.

That's what I used when installing mine.
