replacing steering wheel with airbag

Postby paul2508 » Sun Mar 29, 2009 9:36 pm

i was thinking , can you replace the steering wheel in fto's that have airbags,if so how do you go about it ,i heard somewhere that you have to take the bulb out for the airbag light or something. and if this is all true would you have a problem putting it through the nct.
...Me fail english?..Thats unpossible.....

If you put an aftermarket steering wheel in place of an airbaged standard one you fail the nct.

no you don't. how are they to know whether the car had an airbag from factory? an airbag isn't a legal requirement either.

Why would you want to replace it though? the MOMO airbag wheel is quite nice. (the standard airbag wheel on the pre-facelift is horrid though, but I doubt yours has this) also- having an airbag could prove useful.

Air bag is only noticable if the warning light is on. Simply remove the bulb. NCT not a prob as the have no way of checking it

But again why remove something that may very well save your life. In this instance I would go for safety over looks everytime. Just my opinion
