Pro's and Con's for this car.
cheers
I've owned a Tip GS and (currently) a Tip GR
Pros for a GS are:
* Engine is easier to tune
* Cheaper maintenance for engine (most other parts are the same)
* Unlikely to bust the tip gearbox as there is less torque going through box
* Cheaper insurance (NOTE: This is not always the case so you should alwasy get a quote for the GS and the GR/GPX)
* Car will be cheaper to buy
* Handling is just as brilliant as GR/GPX
Cons for a GS are:
* Tip has no low down - ok when moving though - get a manual if you can
* MUCH slower than GR/GPX
* Insurance is high for a 1.8
* Engine sound is rubbish (ok this is when compared to the V6)
Having owned both I would say go V6 everytime. It cost me the same in insurance to change from the 1.8 to the V6 (dunno why but others have seen the same thing - ask CJ). The V6 is waaaaayyyyy faster than the GS but you are likely to have higher running costs (petrol, tax) and are prone to higher maintenance costs (I've had tip box replaced) thanks to more expensive engine parts and labour (for example: the spark plugs are not simple bolt out bolt in job - you have to remove the inlet manifold to get at the back set - a cambelt change could cost close to €500)
Hope this helps....
