Finally, I have a pic of my soon to be fto

So the paint is a bit shabby, but i have panel beater friend who has decided to help me get the body work as spotless but as cheap as possible.

I also think im deff gonna need a new set of wheels or some spacers (and refurb standard alloys). Everything works except the central locking (easy fix i am told) and the speedo (which i will troubleshoot when i get it)

I am in the proccess of paying the car off and moving to cork, so funds are tight... i do estimate to have the car in my possession by early Feb, in time for FTO-Irl's Bday :D

Feel free to criticize as you see fit, praise is also accepted :P

Ughh i wrote a reply last night but i must not have submitted it!

Anyway, it is a Gpx Tip. done 150,000 Kms. Passed its Nct this January (Less than 5,000 Kms ago)

Serviced 50,000 Kms ago (will be doing that as soon as i get it)

Yes it is still in Kms and is still limited.

Its going for under 2K.

The only problems it has are the paint on the bonnet and roof (from it being Red and laid up for the past 2 years except to go for nct) the Rpm clock doesnt work and there is a spot of rust in the front drivers arch that has nearly gone right through but i will be getting that cut out and plated up.

The exhaust piping from Cat up to the coupling at Rear silencer was worn and blowing so i got him to make up a stainless steel replacement.

It has 4 good tyres, engine is pulls nicely, Tip box is smooth. No rattles at all, brakes in a straight line and stuck to the roundabout when i test drove it.

Bernard and Martin Kindly took a look at it for me too, they said it was a fine car except for the paint and that spot of rust.

i test drove this one before i bought the GS. She's a nice motor, pulls very well, the only thing that put me off was the NCT it was expired since 2007 i think. It was going for 2 grand at the time. If it was tested i prob would of taken it. Most of the extra's have been taken off, bar the HKS cat back exhaust

When I wrote extras i meant the bits like airbags , ABS.momo wheel which were optionals at the time and not all FTO's are equiped with them
Aftermarket bits are a different story . (sure this car looked A LOT different a while ago with all the goodies on it )

Sounds nice, yer this is faded on the spoiler, peeling on the roof (lacquer) and bonnet. i am planning, facelift or Bozz speed (undecided) bumper, resprayed bonnet, black top, roof & sides (like 180sx) and compound all round. spray original alloys white and get some 20mm spacers up front and 50mm in the rear, lowered with gas shocks (kyb or maxi gaz) on tein springs :D Im going to get a rep Gpvr spoiler and a sheet of carbon fiber and im going to try and mold another wing on top of the main spoiler where the sides rise above the center (i hope this makes sense) obv this will take a while but i will have a slow moving thread with pictures years apart :P

I'm sorry to dissapoint you . this will cost you a few times more than what you pay now for the FTO .
You will end up wishing that you spent a bit extra on a modified FTo ( if you are into that ) .

Fortunately for me, i know a few tricks, including having family over in the uk, who have access to impounded cars that never been collected/ have been confiscated. I got maxi Gaz shocks P1 springs, front and back in near new condition for £80.

The bodywork will be free except for the cost of materials and a few slabs of apple juice

and the Bolt on spacers are £70 a pair. ( http://www.freakyparts.co.uk/epages/es120337.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/es120337_es124285571161/Categories/FTO/%22Spacers/Spigot%20Rings%22 )

Carbon fiber sheet will be about £30.

I will however be undersealing the thing, which will prob set me back about €150?

But thats hoping things go well... if i hit any problems, then of course it could be a never ending bill :(

Lets hope that doesnt happen eh? :D

the car is now 1.5 k as the ad says , and in my personal opinion a 200.000 km read on the ODO of a say 95 FTO it's a more or less a normal readout.

well , say you do 100km / day , thats roughly 25.000 / year plus minus

in ten years and with normal mantainance it's 250.000 km .
Now for a 15 year old car in dayly use , i'd say anything between 150.000-300.000 km it's normal milage .
Anything with very low milage or changed engines might seem dodgy (car was lying up parked , in a container or not used - I mean buying a car that wasnt used for a good while would mean you have to invest in changing things like bushings ,siezed parts plus normal servicing of all fluids and consumables ).

It's been discussed before it's really down to how was the car/engine mantained
