battery relocation

Postby miss-enzo » Sun May 24, 2009 11:53 pm

So was talkin to someone recently who said that a battery relocation to the boot would be a good thing to do in the auld FTO's cause you'd get a less restrictive flow of air from the induction kit....

has anyone done this already??? is it a big job to do? and did u think it was worth doing??

I'm not sure its worth doing unless you're fabricatring a CAI enclosure of some description. A turbo conversion is the most common reason folks move the battery to the boot.

This is really not worth the hassle, benefits would be marginal at best we're not talkin about a competition engine here. plus your'e gonna lose some room in your boot. save yourself the expense and headache, a garage will tell you it's a great idea cos they're being paid to do the job. And youd need to fabricate some sort of enclosure for battery in boot.
1. To secure it.
2. To prevent battery terminals from being shorted out by something you may place in the boot.

i have it done, but because i had to.to be honest in your case its not worth the hastle, if i were u id focus on getting cold air in and shielding the intake from the heat under the bonnet
