I'm not sure if this is in the right section but feel free to move if not.

Just reading up on d_dans thread about gearing ratios and the illusive different final drive on the manual gearboxes got me thinking.

Is the manual mivec supposed to stay in MIVEC on the upchange from 1st to 2nd or is there something amiss with mine that it drops to approx 5,200 rpm?

All other changes are fine but this still kind of bugs me!

its the same on mine.
I light flywheel should fix that.

If its for drag use maybe consider dropping the moved level to 5100

ACTUALLY I RETRACT THAT STATMENT

I tryied it yesterday, and if i go 7500+ in first and then to second, ill land at about 5400 (but my wheels skip once or stwice) and the revs can jump easier and i get to about 5600 RPM

Came across this problem while doing 1/4 mile sprints.

The difficulty from 1st to 2nd should be more to do with getting the power down than dropping out of mivec. A full "sidestep the clutch" in 2nd only brought wheelspin for me so a couple of hundred revs of non-mivec wasn't really an issue.

The real pain in the ass is from 2nd to 3rd dropping out of mivec - you really have to take 2nd gear to the limit to avoid dropping out of mivec zone. Theres a very delicate balance there between hopping off the limiter and dropping into the non-mivec zone. Its important to understand this before 1/4 mile sprints. Ideally you need to hear the limiter kick in just as you depress the clutch.

None of the above should matter on the road as its just a matter of tenths of a second either way.
