Need a loan of a spark plug tool

Postby CJ » Wed Apr 26, 2006 8:26 am

In keeping with some of my other recent begging threads, I'm looking for a loan of a V6 spark plug tool, one came with every FTO toolkit but mines missing. I've tried 16mm spark plug sockets and other spark plug tools but they're too wide to fit down the barrel. If I had access to a lathe, I'll take a few mm off the diameter of the socket which would do the job but of course I don't know anyone with a lathe!

Anyone feeling generous? My Denso Iridiums are dyin' to get sparkin'!

CJ,
You sure the socket is not a standard size? My socket set has two spark plug sockets one 'big' one 'small'. When I changed the plugs on the GR the small one fitted perfectly......

Well, the socket is the same diameter as a standard 16mm socket only it has the rubber grommet to grab a hold of the plug, I've seen wider spark plug sockets in the past so I wouldn't clasify this one as excessively wide.

Halfords have a large selection of individual sockets, only they've no 16mm plug socket to suit a ½" drive, again, the dedicated plug removal tools they sell are also too wide to fit the barrel
