Maybe just throw open the bonnet and if says 16v its a GS, if its 24v mivec its a GPX, or if its just 24v is a GR.
Highly unlikely to be a GP as theres hardly any of them around but you could trace the chassis number to confirm im sure.

simplest way i can think of anyway...

Mark, firstly, get the chassis number off the VIN plate on the firewall in the engine bay, it will look something like E-DE3A-0123456-HRGH.
The last section in bold is what determines the model, use the following to determine yours:

Body: H= 2 door coupe

Gear box type: R= 4 speed Tipronic, Y= 5 speed Tiptronic, N = 5 speed Manual

Model no: U = GS, H = GR, G = GPX, F = GP

Engine spec level: E = 4G93 1.8 16v with electronic fuel injection, M = 6A12 DOHC V6 with Electronic fuel
injection, H = 6A12 MIVEC Engine DOHC V6 with Electronic fuel injection and MIVEC

e.g HRGH is a 4-speed Tiptronic GPX, HNUE is a manual GS and HNHM is a manual GR.

Well if you want to be specific, it might be useful! I'll get a full list of model numbers (I have 'em hidden away somewhere) and post them here.

If it's a pre-facelift GR then it has 170bhp which equates to a 0-60mph in about 7.5 secs and a top speed of around 140mph.

The facelift model has an extra 10bhp (180bhp) but the rest of the stats would be pretty similar.

GPX has 197bhp and a tip would do 0-60mph in around 7 - 7.2 secs, a manual should do it in 6.5 - 7 secs

Well the bumper is the obvious one, facelift V6s generally have 5 speed tip boxes as opposed to 4 speed in the pre-facelift. Check out the Buying Guide for more info on models.
