ok, yours is a GPVR? so that'd be the manual aircon. I'm guessing a faulty fan switch?

Ha noway mine does this asswell!! it's wrecking my head!!,

I'm going to sort it end of the month when i get time on my hands,

Will keep you posted and visa versa,

I would think it was either the pot that you turn or the control unit.

Hmm must be a fault with the V'rs.

Wife had the same prob on a Nissan. Turned out to be something called a rheostat, dunno if the FTO has one or not..??
Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.

Yup i suspected + hope its that, Gfalls a rheostat is another name for a variable resistor / pot etc..

I have a few different types at home, will have to take out the old one and firstly check if and why its gone faulty,

I would think that the rheostat is broken into basically four different setting which are the speed each basically point to a lower / high resistance producing the overall fan speed,

I would "Think" the reason why only settings 1 & 2 are gone is because they are most used?

Got exams in 3days:( but will defo get to the bottom of it after.

If it is the variable resistor i will find out the values of resistance each setting gives and will get an appropriate replacement, or you can try and source one from a breakers, but if it is this im going to replace it as it would probably go again down the line,

Won't b able to check it till end of month:(, but am confidant i can sort it unless its some heater matrix fault but i doubt that. fingers crossed,

When i get it sorted i can hook you up with a replacement, just a quick trip to radionics for a replacement.

Had the same problem on my Xsara, was a known problem and was the rheostat/resistor. In the Xsara it was behind the glove box, cost about 24 quid at the time.

Did someone not have this problem before? It's vaguely familiar...

Yup Kevin think it was Russman who brought this issue up before when he owned my car but don't think he got around to fixing it so hopefully ill get somewhere with it. It's a pain in the ass having it blowing at third speed!!.
