Just bought an FTO now I need to customise!!

Postby sinlessgunner » Mon Feb 11, 2008 7:17 pm

Hey everyone.

Just bought my FTO on Friday and I'm in love with it it's a dream to drive and I couldn't be happier except now I need to make it a bit different !! I want to put a body kit and new wheels on it and to do the inside of my car too. I have long term plans for it. Could anyone give me some advice/tips on buying or suggest specific models and items for my new baby?

All help extremely appreciated!!

Welcome to the forum Sinlessgunner (I won't ask where you got the username).

Get some pics up so we can have a look at your new FTO.
As for mods - it really depends on what floats your boat. A good place to start is some lowering springs, rims, exhaust and induction.

That should sort out the next few months of your disposable income! - Think of me as the antithesis of your Bank Manager!

Congrats! and welcome to the site.

Did you buy from someone on the site?

As myfeckin said, its down to whatever you fancy yourself. Plenty places to get kits & parts. Camskill.co.uk, ricerocketuk.co.uk, www.rb-performance.co.uk, reddragonstyling.co.uk, freakyparts.co.uk, jdmperformance.co.uk, the list goes on, not to mention ebay of course!

Anything in particular you're after?

Nearly forgot www.hostileperformance.co.uk.

The UK Ftooc (www.ftooc.org) has its own shop with bits and pieces too.

I'd put any spare bread into getting it mechanically sound first (im sure its grand anyway). There's no point sticking a bodykit on only to find 6 months later that you have lots of engine issues that need sorting.
Timing belt and water pump maybe, new iridium plugs and leads front and back. New fuel filter, front droplinks, ARBs, yes lower it for sure! Bar the timing belt the other stuff is fairly easy to do yourself.

Very good advice - I know you asked about mods but any mechanical issues should allways be addressed first.

The first thing I did on my FTO when I got it was have the timing belt and aux belts changed - iridium plugs - front and rear droplinks and front and rear Anti Roll Bar bushes.

I also stuck in an ITG as it really improves the sound plus slightly better performance in my experience though as it looks like you already have an aftermarket exhaust I wouldn't be surprised to see an aftermarket induction of some kind under the hood.
