Central Locking

Postby kingkeeffo » Fri Aug 11, 2006 12:14 pm

I have a 97 1830 FTO but with no central locking. The car has all electrics so im wondering is there a chance the central locking is bust or never installed for some reason. Can and if so how easy is it to install central locking ???

Hi and welcome kingkeefo.

All FTOs should have central looking (the GS is no exception), its likely that one or both of your central locking motors are bust. Take a look at this guide regarding a cheap fix:

Check your fuses as well - nothing worse than starting to take things apart and then realising that you didn't need to in the 1st place..

no sure which fuse it is though...

I do not believe the GS is fitted with central locking.

My GS certainly had central locking, maybe it was an option but I was sure it was standard :?:

I believe CJ is right all models are fitted with central locking ads standard. As regards motors, these are fitted inside the locking mechanism and are more likely at fault. You will not be able to see without removing the entire locking mechanism and opening it up

The basic GS didn't come with central locking or with electric mirrors, however it is possible to fit it.
