mivec not working !

yesterday i noticed that my gpx had turned gutless. it's ok driving around town but put the boot down and it's flat, revs high but no power and that sound ! you know the one isn't there, today i opend the bonnet and shook all the connectors going to what i suppose is the mivec actuator, and yep going like a scalded cat again, has anyone ever had that problem ?

Well at least you know its being caused by a loose connection or wire.
You could leave the engine idling and pull at some of the under-bonnet cabling to see if there is a change in idle characteristics, if there is, take a look at the engine manual and see if you can pinpoint the connection.
