95 GPX - SOLD

Postby TopCat » Mon Aug 31, 2009 1:37 pm

Right, sad to be doing this, but here goes. :(

My 95 GPX not-so-rare manual is officially up for sale. I need something a little more practial, so until I have the space and money to run 2 cars, I'm afraid she'll have to go. Will be genuinely gutted to see it go, cracking car and great fun.

Most of you have some knowledge of the car, and spec wise, its easier for me to just start with Shane's old ad..

For sale:

My 95 GPX Manual

Timed at 0-60 at 6.48secs - 1/4 mile in 14.7 secs. Probably the quickest FTO in Ireland.

Don't really know where to start but here goes:

Imported the cars 2 years ago as a standard GPX and since then a summary of the following parts have been added:

Engine/Trans/Clutch/Exhaust :

Recent service - Aux belts changed Power Steering/Alternator/Air Con - Have recently removed the entire Air Con system to reduce weight and reduce load on the engine including the fan, condenser, belt, tensioner and all assoc pipework - ttl weight loss of approx 40kgs.

The cambelt (timing belt) has been replaced twice - most recently 1K miles ago when I also replaced the waterpump and a coolant change.
Aux belts replaced including tensioners.

Replaced the standard spark plugs with colder "Denso Iridiums" - better performance/economy and they last 60K miles to boot.

Induction: ITG Maxogen filter - recently cleaned and reoiled.

Stepper motor replaced.

Head gasket replaced

Radiator ionised blue slam panel added.

Recent oil change using fully synthethic 0W-50 motorsport oil.

Recent Clutch change (Camskill replacement).
Recent gearbox oil change.

Practically brand new Blueflame Quad exhaust - including decat (bolt on CAT also provided) - value circa 800Euros.

Turbo Timer - warm your car on those cold winter mornings - cool it down after a blast.

Suspension/brakes/wheels/tyres

Front and rear droplinks replaced - ALL bushes replaced - with poly bushes where available oncluding ARBs - increased castor poly bushes on the front and rear.

Dampers replaced with KYB dampers - Springs replaced with Apex lowering springs - circa 35% stiffer - much improved handling.

Steering arms and boots replaced.

Front and Rear strut braces.

Currently on the 2nd set of EBC Green stuff pads all round - Calipers painted blue. Recent brake fluid change.

Forged Magnesium "Work RSR" rims with new Bridgestone RE050 potenza tyres 215/45 17 - rims & tyres worth circa 700 Euros each - powder coated black.

Cosmetic

Exterior:

Top Mix front splitter
DC skirts - Moulded - expert job - Circa 2.5K Euros including respray.
Boot delocked and despoilered to give this FTO that PHATT look.
Rear and side tinted windows.
Debadged.
Clear side repeaters.
Blue front Mitsi badge, side Mivec stickers and blue rear FTO logo.

Interior

Colour-coded Isotta steering wheel, Gearknob/gaiter and handbrake.
Stainless Steel dials - light-up blue at night. Aluminium dial rings. Centre consol sprayed silver.
Pioneer sound system to include TV, Amplifier, 6 CD changer etc. Colour coded aftermarket bucket seats
Factory electric sunroof.
Drilled alloy pedals and blue "Autostyle" FTO mats.

Misc

PIAA horn (to replace the weedy standard horn).
PIAA silicon wipers replaced.
Philips bluevision foglights/dims/headlights

Since I got the car about 9months ago, and put up <10,000miles, I have done the following...

Full service (inc Denso Iridiums, ITG Maxogen filter - cleaned and reoiled, rocker cover and intake manifold gaskets, engine and gearbox oil).

Second small service (engine oil & filter, air filter cleaned and oiled).

Upgraded to HID lights.

Replaced bushes, both front ARB and front bottom arm rear bush with extra castor.

Replaced steering rack boots.

Replaced Power Steering Belt.

Tinted rear lights.

There are probably more things I should mention, but just wanted to get the main points down first.
Its a beautiful car, really unique with the blended DC skirts and rear spoiler removed. Will post up some more pics shortly.

Its a tough time to sell, but I'm hoping its unique enough to stand out from the crowd, and with the way its been looked after and its history well tracked on FTO-Ireland, I think it'll make a great buy for someone.

It'll mean I'll be without an FTO for a while anyway, but I'll probably throw a mivec badge on the back of whatever I get and tag along at the meets.

That's a seriously good price. If I wasn't so attached to my own car, I'd consider buying it.
I remember when this car was advertised for twice what you're asking.
Hope it goes to a good home, or you see sense and keep it.

I think you should ask around 11K for it and just wait for the right buyer
Seriously well looked after car, tried and proven as one of the quickest around.

Will we see a MFFTO beating time before she goes?

Holy Christmas! I'm actually very very tempted to see how much I can get for mine and take it off you.

Unfortunatley mine will need a few bits done for the NCT so it'll be at least 2 weeks before its in a sellable condition and I seriously doubt you'll still have it by then...

I actually sold it for 8,450 a couple of years back - and good value it was at the time too.
Nicely sorted FTO this - good handling and very quick car for an NA FTO.

FTO's are getting on in years - its now absolutely essential that if you are buying one that the maintenance work (inc suspension dampers/bushes/ droplinks etc and engine cambelt, aux belt, plugs, gaskets, fluid changes) as listed above has been carried out - otherwise you are buying a money pit.

You can buy this FTO confident that it drives the way an FTO should (possibly even better) and you'll save a packet on mods.

Yep, a major service (i.e one to get it to drive at its best, and not have any nasty surprises round the corner) can run into the cost of the car again. this is an absolute bargain. Surprised you're not buying it MFFTO :D

Thanks for all the comments lads, I think ye understand that I really will miss this. I'm wondering not have I under-priced it? Ah no, I really didn't want to go starting at 4500, then 4000 and so on. I think its a very fair price, and while I'm in no real hurry to sell, I'm hoping it will find a good home soon at that price.

Bernard wrote:Will we see a MFFTO beating time before she goes?

Not sure, but I'll def give it my best shot. :D

Myfeckin FTO wrote:... good handling and very quick car for an NA FTO...

Not beating in the quarter mile by any irish FTO, NA or otherwise  (Sorry, couldn't resist)

Dragonheart wrote:... hopefully it wont stray too far away this time. :(

Yeah, I would really like it to stay within the club, I think people here recognise the way this car has been looked after to date, and will appreciate the value of that. TBH, thats part of the reason I have it up here first and at what I think is a decent price.

Forgot to mention above too, it flew by the NCT a few months back (just needed the Cat back in for a while), so good long NCT on it too, and a nice fresh Cat (converter) in the boot.

I would have had if I still had just the Range Rover Sport but the change to the supercharged Zed has kinda sorted me for my quick coupe fix for the moment.

My daily driver has to hold a kid and all the stuff that goes with them - thats my missus' Alfa for the moment and hope to change that to another SUV by year end.

If I was in the market for an FTO - I certainly wouldn't have let this opportunity pass.

Yeah, to be fair the fact that I could talk to Shane about the car before I even bought regarding history and the work gone into it has been a great help, so I have him first refusal on it alright. I think we both would like to see it stay linked with the club.

This probably won't affect the sale one way or the other :smt003 but isn't it lovely the way that picture near the top exactly matches the sky, both reflecting and at the same time contrasting the colour and texture of the clouds behind it!! :ll Bravo!!!
