UK Speed Cameras inaccurate, could this apply over here???

Postby pergau » Mon Jan 10, 2005 6:08 pm

This article http://www.pistonheads.com/speed/default.asp?storyId=9689 is about the work that a retired electronics engineer has done to prepare his defence for a speeding ticket. he clains that the flashes that the GATSO camera takes are mis-timed and can overestimate the vehicle's speed by 25%
His court case comes up on thursday so it will probably make the news.

I'd imagine the chances are the Irish cops could be using the same speed trap technology as the guys in the UK, so possibly!

I wonder if they'll pull an Irish govt one, and get some law in there quickly to prevent people who have already been caught with the cameras reclaiming their fines & erasing the points from the speeding! Feicers...

Would be excellent to see it happen, fair play to the guy for not just paying the fine and nailing them with hard facts!
