Fading colour

Postby CByrne » Fri Jul 01, 2005 10:25 am

Hey

Have the day off so going to play with the motor, giving a go at changing the oil and adding some forte top end (tappets getting a bit noisy) and also going to do a DIY on getting some cold air towards my overheating ITG filter.
Also want to give the car a good polish.
Especially at the boot and rear spoiler the passion red is a bit whitish. I was reccomended T-Cut. Dont know much about it, but I guess I would need to be careful and use sparingly as I believe its abrasive?
Anyone have a similar prob with colour fading, and Use T-Cut or similar products before?

Cheers
CB

Whoa just searched T-Cut on the FTOOC website, seems most people reccommend to stay clear!
Going to Halfords to pick up a few things, anything got a recommendation. Do they do Autoglum products?

When I had a Red FTO I used a red Colour Restorer polish and it allways turned out well - there are umpteen brands available - just use a well known one like Autoglym or even Turtle Wax.

I can recommend Turtle wax colour restorer, T-cut is a bit too abrasive IMO.

I've found the F1 range quite good recently - I've used the carnuba shampoo with the carnuba wax and it gives a really deep finish. Don't know much about polish though....

I've been using Poorboys, leaves a really nice shine, brings it out well. A shampoo and I've a polish with carnuba wax in it, does a really nice job on it, impressed from the first panel I washed with it.

The stuff I got:

NEW! Super Slick & Suds Car Wash RRP £10.99 (shampoo)

Polish With Carnauba RRP £10.49

Natural Look RRP £7.49 (for dash, leather, vinyl, etc.)

Microfibre Wash Mitts RRP £14.99 Special Intro Offer £9.99

There's also a professional polish (NEW! Professional Polish RRP £12.99) too, here's what Steve said about it:

stevieg wrote:The Pro Polish is a non abrasive no silcones bodyshop safe formula BUT if you are not looking for a complete 3 or 4 step solution then I would just stick with the Polish w/ carnuba.

The Pro Polish needs to be sealed with either a EX or EXP product then topped with NATTYS.

The wash will last ages, its pretty concentrated, you use 2oz for a 2 gallon bucket of water, I've a few washes out of it and you'd hardly notice much gone.

Poorboys have a website - http://www.poorboysworld.com.
