FTO banner: help needed

Postby CJ » Sat Aug 12, 2006 12:50 pm

I'm working on a banner for the club - if you're a Photoshop head, I need your help! I'm hoping to get a two tone banner (white on dark blue) made up in vinyl (18" x 36"), the general idea I had was having the FTO-Ireland logo that you see in the left hand corber above as the centre piece with 'The Irish FTO Owners Club" text underneath. In terms of graphics, I was thinking of working on silhouettes of the FTO, that said, I havn't come across too many appropriate pics to work on (preferably a white car on neutral background).

I'm hoping to get something sorted for the 'show and shine' stand at the Limerick show, if you can help out in terms of design, let me know.

Guys, mick_dont_surf has done an excellent job on a banner mock up, see below. Comments appreciated, don't hold back! :) My own feeling is that a cleaner, more destintive central image would complement the overall look of the banner, otherwise I think it looks perfect.

I was planning using some of the recently donated funds to pay for this, I don't expect a smallish banner to cost more than €50.

I think whats needed here mick is a bolder image, bear in mind that a scale 18"x36" graphic will be required for the final image, any pixelation at low res will only be magnefied when its blown up.

The main issue I would have is that the pic might be copyrighted, I know I've seen it on a UK based FTO site before, where did you get it AWI?

Overall, it looks good, I'd be inclined not to use the actual graphic from the front page on the basis that I don't have a hi-res version of it - it won't come out so good in print.

(oh the joys of having worked in a company dealing with this stuff..urgh!)

Like the design, but think that the image of the car should be flipped around so the car doesn't look like it's reversing somewhere.

I like this image from home page that incorporates the Irish flag.
Can we use this?

Only real problm is I don't have a hi res version - when you blow it up on a large banner it will look pretty pixilated. I was hoping to keep it two-tone to save on cost, that said, I'll explore both options.

I've used an old Photoshop job that Mark Russel Hill did some time ago (and what a job he did!), I know its not two tone but I just can't find a suitable graphic to make a mildly professional looking banner. I still need to speak to Mark about using the image (in fact I'll probably need a high res ver ), anyway, comments appreciated.

Heres a blue duotone version for posterity:
