is there a way to open the bonnet...

Postby d_dan » Thu Jan 22, 2009 9:18 pm

is there a way to open the bonnet without using the catch inside the car.

Can you remove the wiper cowl? with teh bonnet down?

Can you remove the hinge mount bolts with the cowl on?

Where is the wire that runs from inside the car to the bonnet catch?
Grab it with a pliers and pull?

your insurance company might cover getting your keys out.

You might be able to get at the boonet release fron underneath the car with a coat hanger (assuming you don't have an FMIC blocking the route ;))

If anyone has a way of gettuing into the cabin without the keys, pm Dan directly. The reasons for this are obvious I think you'll agree....

got the bonnet open by jacking up the car and then removing the drivers side wheel arch liner and pulling the cable itself and "click" opens the bonnet

Apparently there is actually an easy way to get into an FTO using a specific route (without having to break anything). Fortunately never had to try it out though.

Perhaps would be useful to have someone demonstrate whenever we have this "DIY meet" that was planned.

Most locksmiths, Cleggs in Naas definitely have them if you're still working in Newbridge.

The way the lads are eluding to is pretty obvious, we do it on Hyundai Coupes too.
