Right so - I think the cold snap killed the starter. Luckily the weather doesn't really invited FTO driving these days anyways so I've taken the legnum out of retirement anyway..

Now - I don't have CAPS, but is there a list of starters that's do the trick for the 6a12 unit? I was poking about on the interwebs and I found that there's two or three possible candidates MD342382, Bosch BXM135 and there's a 3rd one on Camskill.. can anybody enlighten me?

It'd be especially interesting if there was one that'd fit both in the 6a13tt and the 6a12 unit...

Just found this "list"

MOT80681 MOT80685 MOT81481 MOT81482 MD319770 MD320576 MD341386

if anybody could confirm, that'd be lovely..

CAPS throws back 3 starters, all FTO specific:

MD320576 - 1kw 94-96
MD341386 - 1kw 97-99
MD342382 - 1.2kw 99-00

Worth pointing out that the latter is slightly more powerful.

Nops.. haven't been looking for the past week.

Think I'll get a Diesel car with my next Paycheck and let the FTO sit up for a while till the weather gets a little better.

I have a few things that I'd like to do to it..

I did find a starter on eBay for 40gbp but it's not reconned and its from a 95...so I bet you it wont last too long.

Surely a knackered old starter shouldn't be more than a tenner plus shipping..
