Blue pre-facelift GPvR (one for the anoraks)

Postby Bernard » Tue Feb 11, 2014 1:56 pm

Here's an odd one for you, I always thought the vR was facelift only.
I knew about the GP in prefacelift guise but this is a new one on me... look at the colour too.

Lol, a few things that doesnt really match:

Since when the GPvR comes Tiptronic?
Theres was only 3 color options, that blue wasnt one of em.
Car is lowered that isnt stock version R height either
No Version R stickers
Exhaust isnt from Version R
Small spoiler versus "Aero"
Front bumper lol.

Nice color alright.

My GPvR was tiptronic/auto when I got it. Came like that too, I converted it to manual.

As it was an auto version R it should be GRvR same as mine was tip and i convert to manual it but its GRvR

GP would indicate manual GR auto in version R trim.

Have U chassis number or model code of that car? Pm me I'll get it checked.

That is very weird. It can't be right though, can it? It flies in the face of everything we've learned...

Nice colour though.

Version Rs were available in both Manual and and Tip, both were GPvR.
The Tip vins started with HYFH3, Manuals started with HNFH3... interesting info here.

As for the rest of it, a lot doesn't match up.
From when this brochure came out to when the facelift was introduced is only about 6 months so who knows how many (if any) of them were sold like the above.
It's a genuine brochure though, I must post the back cover.

FYI, here's a closeup of the exhaust,

Right so i dig more on CAPS and it seems that;

The only GPvR tip was HYFH4 and that was version R2 whith were produced in later period than 97.

HYFH3 is GRvR due to CAPS my 97 version R is GRvR checked by vin

Ive got the same Rallyart back box on my 00 GPvR (vR2)
