Shoddy kickplates

I inherited a set of stainless steel FTO kickplates off a mate of mine but they're not in great nick as regards scratches etc. Does anyone have any tips for cleaning them up or a way of giving them that 'brushed' look?

Use a very fine grit sand paper (1000 or 500) this will polish them up. ensure to sand entire unit in the same direction. (there is also a polishing paste available for stainless steel.

I work in a company where all the euipment is stainless and we have to polish items on a regular basis. The finer the sand paper used and the more elbow grease put in the better the result.

I got some 800 grade paper this afternoon so hopefully that wil do the job.

Also try polishing it up with a product called Ambersil its great on all metals

Right, I used the 800 grade paper and followed up with some SS polish. Fitted the plates and they don't look half bad!
