Postby gt94 » Mon Mar 02, 2009 6:56 pm

I recently changed the front pads on the car(mintex) under hard braking there is a noticeable shuddering/vibrating in the pedals the steering wheel is not that bad.I'm thinking warped discs maybe :?: Any ideas

I also replaced my origonal disks (because they were warped) with Black diamond D&G they were great until I upgraded the pads to mintex, and within a month the shuddering started again, I presumed that the pads are too harsh for these disks so I now have 3G disks on for the past week and so far so good!

I was informed that it may be a build-up on the disks, I guess Ill have to wait n see!

I was carefull not to keep my foot on the breakpedal when stopped after hard breaking!

The problem of glazed disks is often misdiagnosed as 'warped disks'. You can avoid this by bedding your pads in properly as per the manufacturers specification.

A session of seriously hard braking from +100kph down to 15kph repeated with 3 min cool down periods and normal braking in between can often sort the issue, private track required however.

Some performance pad manufacturers recommend skimming the disks in a lathe prior to installation.

Personally, I always sand the disks with 800 or 1000 grade emery paper prior to pad replacement in an effort to help the bedding in process and to remove old pad material from the disk surface.

I had 20 grooved discs and mintex pads on my gpx and there was no shuddering so i might go with new discs again and see what happens.
