Presuming you mean 215/45 18 - then I would say they are well over spec and are quite likely to rub off the bottom of the damper - really depends on the offset of the rim. I know Dave on here ran a not too dissimilar rim and tyre combo but the correct size for an 18 inch rim would be a 35 rather than a 45 profile though you'd likely get away with a 40 profile ok.
Personally I wouldn't bother with 18's on an FTO - I found the ideal size for a looks /weight/performance/ride/handling combination to be a 215/45 17inch rim - slightly over spec diameter but looks well/handles and rides well. And you'll be able to spend the money saved on better quality tyres.

I'd recommend 17's instead though
Myfeckin FTO wrote:I would say to stick with 40 profiles and use spacers if the rims don't have the neccessary offset. A 35 profile on a 215 tyre is too little meat for Irish roads.
For looks its not that important to have an 18 inch rim - nice 17's with a 45 profile on lowered suspension will look just as good - as long as they reduce the gap between arch and wheel then thats the main thing:
Its more about lowering than rim size tbh - CJs lowered on 17's - Mustangs running 17's on standard: -

thanks for all the help lads, if i went for a 215/35 i dont have to do anythin but ye reckon it wont work
so how bout the 215 40 profile
Myfeckin FTO wrote:However 18 inch rims will only look good if you have them on lowered suspension - otherwise it will look like you're driving a 4 x 4. This will further increase your tyres scrubbing the arches unless you pin back the arches and perhaps use spacers if you have a rim with a higher than 34 offset. Rim and tyre sidewall design will also have an influence on how much the tyres will scrub.
