WILLWOOD UPGRADE AS SEEN ON FTOOC

Postby d_andrews78 » Tue Jul 31, 2007 2:28 pm

Hi,
My set of willwood upgrade has just arrived, but sad to say they won't be going on the car, as she is to be sold too at a later stage.
So if any of you guys are interested let me know.
The reason for not putting them on is, these will not add value to the sale price of the car, so going to offer to you guys first.
Paid £475 sterling plus £30 P&P for them.
Lots to think about, nothing to worry about!

Set of 4 pot calipers + 298mm disks (doesn't inc braided hoses which you'll need) - I believe Kevinod bought a set as part of the group buy so he's prob best placed to answer - did you get them fitted yet Kev?

Thanks Myfeckin FTO, this was in the same group buy as Kevinod, comes with braided hoses for the front.

Selling them at cost price to me, £475.

Mine haven't arrived yet, hopefully get them on over the weekend assuming they do get here.

Compared to AP or Brembo upgrades they're cheaper and lighter. The disks are bigger and thus heavier than the GPX ones, but the calipers are a lot lighter, supposedly 9.5KG lighter overall. Here's a quote from one of the guys who just got them on:

just a little update been on a 150 mile round trip today brakes are bedded in abit more and F@*$ Me there good

There's a fitting guide that was put together for it here (click). The guy painted his silver, they're black out of the box, but at least you can see what they look like there.

Got mine installed and have had a couple of days to drive on them. They have yet to bed in but are impressive so far!

It was a pretty straight forward install, just took a bit of time but no real problems. Just a little bit of know-how (tip from one of the ftooc guys who put them on really helped with getting the discs on straight) and it was fairly well plain sailing.

Brakes are definately a lot better, and have a nice progressive braking feel, as in no sudden bite, its nice and predicatable exactly how strong it'll brake depending on how far you push the pedal. (does that make any sense)

I've been taking it easy on them so far, let them bed in, but giving the occasional harder push just 'cos they're so good!

Must take pics if there's a break in the rain over the weekend.

Wee lad is getting too big for the back seat and no where big enough for a booster seat. so will have to let it go for now. Wife is not happy with him kicking the back of her seat, and don't fancy sitting in the back either.
I've been meaning to sell her for a few months now but managed to get away with it until now.
