battery dying

Postby mick_dont_surf » Tue May 29, 2007 11:27 am

my car barttery has been dying constantly, if left alone for over 24hrs.
at first i thought it was just the car missing me, but eventually, like most things it became a pain in the ar*e.
i took it to my local mechanic and we narrowed it down to one fuse. but seeing as the writing on the fuse box is in japanese we are a wee bit flucked.
the fuse is under the bonnet. on the diagram its the fourth one up on the right hand side. it reads from the bottom, 60,80,20 40, its the first 40A one,
under the box its the second one over the 20 , with the 60 and 80 sitting at an angle.

does anyone know what this is for as its putting serious pressure on the battery. :?:

Sounds like a relay rather than a fuse, 'lamp' most likely refers to dipped beams or headlights....

The electronic wiring manual is in the downloads section with the other manuals http://www.fto-ireland.com/downloads.html

I presume you've pulled that fuse and checked what doesn't work, also check to see if you have a boot light or a glove compartment light or any other mods that might have a light in a hidden place that might be on all the time (e.g. base bin neon in the boot), if so pull out the bulbs and see if that makes any difference. Other than that check your battery, it might just be knackered and not holding a charge.

Good luck, hope you get sorted

i pulled the fuse the other day and the only thing that stopped working is the headlights.totally flumuxed now. i know its gone dead when the lights are switched off. we also checked it in the garage without the lights on. the fuse must be feeding something else.
