Stepper Motor

Postby CByrne » Sat Mar 12, 2005 3:45 pm

Still looking for the FTO, found a manual GR for sale for 5800, but no NCT and stepper motor needs replacing.
Owner is very negotiable on the price at least.
He never put it through the NCT (or maybe he did and it failed- can this be checked?)

Mileage bout 83k miles.
Anyway I know there was a thread previously on stepper motors but cant find it. Are they costly/difficult to replace?
I reckon I could knock a big chunk off the asking price as he hasnt had much interest in it.

Thanx

Stepper motor is simple to replace - finding a second-hand one may be tricky though Camskill have new Stepper motors for sale reasonably cheap at the moment - I bought a second hand one from Steelroe a few months back - he may have another one lying around.

I wouldn't worry to much about NCT - but make sure you get it on a ramp before you buy - check droplinks/bushes, exhaust etc - if there is anything wrong then you can scare the seller into dropping the price further still - droplinks and bushes are bound to need replacing if they have never been changed and its an easy way to knock more money from the asking price - these are also cheap to buy so its no biggy.
