I'd find a new mechanic. Honest.

If he cant tell you exactly what he's done how he's done it - he's not worth hanging on to.

Hi roommy. You seem to be having awful trouble with that box (glad I have a manual now)!

Can any of the guys on the ftooc site direct you to a mechanic near you...someone who is familiar with fto's?

back from the garage, still

Postby roommy » Tue Mar 10, 2009 2:31 am

Right guys.. Today finally I have taken my car back from the lier garage. He had a bill made for me for £450. When I asked him to give me full details and the parts he has replaced and that I never asked him to repair anything. I just wanted diagnostics and identifying the fault. After a long argument, he has given me the car back against £250.

As far as I believe he has just put some washers in the drive shaft to push it further into the slip diff and now the car is driving but strall in D is very low. It stays in first gear if put in D and in triptronic mode it goes upto 3rd gear only. The "N" keeps flashing! The diagnostics test he did came with two errors on his machine error code 23: Output speed sensor and error code 51: SCI fail. To be honest after today, my trust on them garages is gone along with half of my annual bonus  I have ordered a 5-speed triptronic gearbox from Wyside Autos and have received a 4 speed one! The guy has told me its sent in error and he is sending me the right gearbox. Lets see if that arrives or that is the rest of my bonus gone with a wrong gearbox lying in my driveway!! I have also found the output speed sensor from ebay. I have a friend who is a mechanical engineer. I am taking a week off work and going to do a last desperate attempt to put my babe back on the road.. Any Suggestions? Anyone knows what this SCI fail code is?
