Exhaust

Postby karlf » Fri Apr 25, 2008 12:58 pm

I've got a couple of holes in my exhaust due to rusting. Just looking for some advice on replacing it (its got to a stage where I cant even listen to the radio the growl from the exhaust got that loud). The holes are in the pipe itself, the bit that goes form the backbox to the joint near the cat. I had a piece cut out and replaced before so it definately needs replacing now. Other than going to a dealer/quickfit and buying one is there any where/thing else I could try?????

I had this exact problem last week! I had a lad in Dun Laoghaire make up a new pipe for me. Extremely high quality stainless steel made to fit the car and fitting (good few hours labour) and it was 350 euro. You could probably get a cheaper job done though. Is your exhaust aftermarket? If it's standard I'm sure you could definitly get it done much cheaper.

It is a standard exhaust. I wouldn't mind getting the details off you for where you got it done. I could give them a buzz and see what they say. If you want you can pm me with the details. Thanks Sinlessgunner.

Thanks steeleroe! As tempted as I am with a quad exhaust, with a hole in it already I'd only be replacing one rusting pipe with another. My own started with one small hole and I got a piece cut out and replaced, but a couple of months later I've about four holes in it now. I'd rather just buy a new piece and not have to worry bout it after that.
I appreciate the offer though!!! Cheers :D

Karl it was Dun Laoghaire Motor Works (or Worx) something like that. I don't have their number but its 72a York Road Dun Laoghaire. He done a great job on mine I have to say even the mechanic I go to for servicing etc said it was a fantastic job and worth every penny so I'm happy out. Look into it anyway. Rorys quad could be the way to go either...
